SLABMAGS – Alloy Series BGS Premium Slab Protection.
Protecting your graded cards has become (out of the irony of it all) a business of itself. Companies like PSA, Beckett, CGC have grown exponentially in recent years due to a growing demand for grading people’s collectibles like sports cards, trading card games (expensive Pokémon cards), and autographed memorabilia cards.
This article discusses my experience with using the product, SLABMAG – ALLOY Series BGS Premium Slab Protection.
I am not sponsored and compensated by the company for making this review.

Hello, fellow collectors! Welcome back to my corner! Today, we’re diving into reviewing a slab that is becoming my top choice when it comes to protecting my slabbed cards. We are reviewing Slabmag’s Beckett Alloy Series, specifically their medium-sized premium slab for graded cards. This product has been gaining attention in the collector community, so let’s see what it brings to the table.
I recently acquired a signed Lionel Messi card which is going to be one of my most valuable piece and a highlight in my private collection. The card just stands out as the ink used is light blue marker ink, which uniquely stands out to many signed cards by him. Another reason I like this card is that he signed the card directly on the card.
Now, you might be asking, “you all ready got your card authenticated, sealed and protected. Why do you need to protect the slab with another slab?”, and the short answer is, I am protecting my investment. I want to protect my investment while also to be able to showcase my card.

Build Quality and Materials
First off, the build quality. The Slabmag Beckett Alloy Series is crafted (according to their website) from a high-grade aluminum, which gives it a robust and premium feel. The metal casing is both lightweight and durable, protecting your valuable graded cards from potential damage. The design is quite sleek and modern, with a brushed metal finish that not only looks good but also provides durability.
Design and Aesthetics
The slab itself is quite aesthetically pleasing. The metallic sheen combined with clean lines makes it a perfect display piece. For those who showcase their collections, the Slabmag Beckett Alloy slab stands out compared to traditional plastic holders. Its clear front allows for an unobstructed view of the card, while the edges are smooth and polished, adding to the overall appeal.

Security and Protection
One of the most critical aspects of any card slab is the protection it offers. The Slabmag Beckett Alloy Series excels in this area. The aluminum casing is not only resistant to impacts but also shields against UV light, which can fade your cards over time. Additionally, the slab has a secure magnetic locking mechanism that keeps the card firmly in place, the slab is easy to open and close with its lock tab system on the side, which is a significant advantage when compared to some other brands that may require excessive force. The user-friendly design means you can quickly insert or remove cards without risking damage. preventing any internal movement that could cause wear and tear. The size of the slab fits perfect for any standard Beckett Graded card, fitting comfortably without being too bulky.
Pricing
When it comes to pricing, the Slabmag Beckett Alloy Series is on the higher price point of card protective cases; this alloy version of the SlabMag is going for $29.99. However, considering the premium materials and the level of protection it offers, the investment is well justified.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- High-quality aluminum alloy construction
- Sleek and modern design
- Excellent protection against impacts and UV light
- Secure locking mechanism
- User-friendly and easy to use
Now, let’s talk about what I do not like about the case:
Pricing
The price point for this particular model from SlabMag is on the pricier side. At $29.99 you might look elsewhere and that is a better idea. However, if you’re serious about preserving the condition of your valuable graded/authenticated slabbed cards, this protective case is worth every penny. They do offer the Matte version of these slab cases for $5.00 cheaper than the Alloy Series, and also provides the same protection to your graded card.
Minor production defect
I probably am in the minority here, but the slab case I got has some spec on the top of the case,
It gets Dirty
I have clammy hands, and because it has a metallic finish, you will eventually leave fingerprints all over the case. Nothing like a clean cloth to wipe it out can do!
Cons:
- Higher price point
- Slightly heavier than plastic slabs, which might be a concern for some colectors.
Where do we go from here?
The Slabmag Beckett Alloy Series medium-sized premium slab is a top-tier choice for serious card collectors. I am absolutely happy with this purchase! Its durability, aesthetic ‘minimalist’ appearance, and user-friendly design makes it a standout product in the market. While it comes with a higher price tag, the peace of mind and protection it offers for your valuable graded cards make it a worthwhile investment. Whether you’re displaying your collection or keeping it safe for the long term, this slab is a fantastic option.
